For Suutarlan Hybrid Oy in Finland, Nooyen proudly delivered 180 fully customised free-farrowing pens.

This project focused on combining animal welfare, hygiene and compliance with Finnish regulations. The pens were fully designed in line with local requirements and integrated seamlessly into the overall barn layout.

Each pen measures 3.0 x 2.5 metres (7.5 m²). Finnish regulations require at least 50% of the pen to consist of solid flooring to support sow welfare, while hygiene remains a key challenge.

To address this, the pens feature an integrated piglet nest within the floor, designed without narrow seams where dirt can accumulate. The nest is water-heated and finished with a top coating for additional grip and comfort.

In close cooperation with the client, contractor and barn outfitter, a well-balanced and practical solution was developed.

The result is a modern, high-quality and fully operational farrowing facility.
